Russi has lost 1.000.340 troops in Ukraine since the beginning of its full-scale invasion February 24. 2022, the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces reported on June 12.
The number represents Ukraines claim of Russian casualties, which includes both killed and wounded. The General Staff posts these estimates daily, which also includes Russian vehicles, aircraft and ships.

Widely debated
The number of Russians killed by Ukrainian forces since the start of the full-scale invasion is a subject to ongoing debate and varies widely depending on the source and methodology. There is no single, universally agreed-upon figure, but several credible estimates provide a range.
The independent Russian media outlet Mediazona have confirmed over 107.000 Russian soldiers killed by name as of May 2025. This figure is based on open-source data such as obituaries, memorials, and official reports, but it is widely acknowledged to represent only a portion of the true total.
The UK ministry of Defence and other Western intelligence sources have suggested the number may be as high as 200.000 or even 250.000, though these figures are at the upper range and are less commonly cited in open-source confirmations.
Revealed Ukrainian casualties
In February 2025, at the Munich Security Conference, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that “almost 250.000” Russian soldiers had been killed since 2022, with nearly 20.000 in Kursk alone.
Zelensky has rarely disclosed Ukrainian casualty figures, but there have been notable exceptions.
The latest was during an interview with NBC on February 16 2025, where he said over 46.000 Ukrainian soldiers had been killed.
He also stated that nearly 380.000 Ukrainian soldiers had been injured, and that “tens of thousand” of Ukrainian troops were missing or in Russian captivity.
